About us

Abiodun Essiet Initiative for Girls- AEIG is a non-profit organization that was formerly known as the Shoyemi Abiodun Foundation against teenage pregnancy.

It was established in 2008 as a result of the high prevalence of teenage pregnancy in the local community in Ejigbo, Osun State Nigeria. It is dedicated to improving the health and well-being of Nigerian women and girls as well as promoting their sexual and socio-economic well-being and addressing the menace of sexual and gender-based violence.

AEIG works with government, stakeholders, and community leaders to educate young girls on sexuality education, raise awareness and advocacy on SGBV, train out-of-school girls’ vocational skills for free, support girls to pursue their dream by sponsoring them to school, and partnership with other youth-focused NGO. We aim to close the economic and gender gaps in education and advance Global Goals 4&5: Ensure inclusive and equitable quality education and promote lifelong learning opportunities for girls and achieve gender equality by empowering all women and girls.
