In the same vein, the Executive Director, Abiodun Essiet Initiative for Girls, Mrs. Mayowa Akpati emphasized the need for all stakeholders to come onboard in the fight, as SGBV and gender equality are intertwined. In her words " We cannot talk about sexual and gender-based violence without also talking about gender equality, because SGBV is rooted in gender inequality, the abuse of power and harmful norms".
Present at the event were our Anti-SGBV ambassadors/champions in community secondary schools across the six area councils and other students; the Nigeria Correctional Service non custodial unit, AMAC; NAPTIP Protection Officers in the six area councils; the Girls Parliament; and the Abuja Original Inhabitants People with Disability Cooperative Society.
