ADVOCACY VISIT TO INEC

Abiodun Essiet Initiative for Girls (AEIG) and Deaf Women Aloud Initiative paid an advocacy visit to the Independent National Electoral Commission

to seek for collaboration on the project "Promoting Deaf Girls and Deaf Women's Participation in the Political

Process Through Increased Political Inclusion, Voter Registration, Voter Turnout and Balanced Election Media Coverage.”

The project funded by U.S. Mission Nigeria amongst other things seeks to mount a campaign to push for the Inclusion of Deaf Women and Young Girl into the Electoral Process; collaborate with the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in providing an inclusive and accessible Sensitization and workshop to train DATA ENTRY officers to teach Deaf people how to use the BVA machine for voting; organizing various Capacity Building & Sensitization in remotes areas in the FCT for Deaf Women on the need to get their PVCs and mobilization of Deaf Women and Girls to turn up on Election Day to Exercise their Fundamental Human Right by voting.
