MANDATE SECRETARY FCT HUMAN HEALTH SERVICES SECRETARIAT HOSTS AEIG AND OTHER PARTNERS WORKING IN FCT HEALTH SECTOR

On Monday 19, 2022, the Honorable Mandate Secretary, FCT Health and Human Services Secetariat hosted partners working in the FCT health care sector in a stakeholders dialogue.

USAID, Hipcity, GEM hub and several other organizations were also in attendance.

AEIG was duly represented by the duo of the Executive Director, Abiodun Essiet, and the Program Officer, Josephine Emeghoghena.  

Miss Emeghoghena spoke extensively on a project we are currently implementing : Strengthening Traditional Justice Systems to Combat SGBV in FCT, funded by MacArthur Foundation through Resource Center for Human Rights and Civic Education Speaking further, She lamented on the state of Awyetu Sexual Assault Referral Centre (the only one if its kind in FCT domiciled in Bwari General Hospital) while proffering solutions as recommended in our report on scorecard on community responses to SGBV in FCT. She also seized the opportunity to request for partnership with the HHSS on our capacity training for ward heads and managers of PHCs to promote access to efficient health care service delivery across the six area councils, slated for next year.  

The Mandate secretary Spoke on ways we could all partner and how it is important for us all to always have constant meetings to deliberate on how to improve the health system in FCT.

The director of Health Planning research and statistics Dr ibrahim Abubakar gave the various statistics on infant mortality and maternal mortality nation wide and said the FCT is doing well in reduction on the statistics. 

The representative for Integrated health program a USAID funded idea Mr Auston Okumo gave his goodwill message.

A list of Five action plan approved by the ministry of health for all partners to work with for year 2023 project and the budget for 2022 years project was presented.
