Advocacy for Women With Disability Initiative

On Monday, 7th of march 2022, Advocacy for women with Disability Initiative (AWDF) paid Hon. Abiodun Essiet an advocacy visit intimate her on their 6-month project: 

“Amplifying Women voices in Inclusive right advocacy" funded by "Trust Fund" supported by "FORD Foundation”.

The meeting kick-started with the organization's program director, Mr. Kola, who gave a brief speech about the project and all it entails. he said the project is about “Amplifying Women voices in Inclusive right advocacy" funded by "Trust Fund" supported by "FORD Foundation” which is centered towards helping women find their part and footing in leadership and also women and girls with a disabilities, to be encouraged and motivated to run for leadership positions in order to create continuity for women's inclusion in politics by older women in politics to mentor younger women and  disabled women. The organization has decided to recognize and select 5 phenomenal women to champion this course to provide younger women mentorship with their expertise and experience as fore runners. 

of these five women, two are women with disability and 3 are women without disability. aside from this a town hall meeting will be organized for young women to participate and learn as well.

In her short speech, the executive Director of AWDF Mrs. Patience Dickson said Hon. Abiodun Essiet is one of the women who has been exceptionally recognized by the organization because of how passionate she is about women and women with disability, she has been at the forefront of leadership, proudly representing women in government amidst the patriarchal structure.

Her dedication and passion for women in all spheres of life is duly recognized. 

Other women without disability identified by the organization with her are, Dorothy Njamanze of Dorothy Njamanze Foundation, and Amb. SARKI sylva.

Hon. Abiodun Essiet welcomed and received their invitation with so much excitement. promised to put in her very best to mentor the mentee who will be handed to her and see to it that she reaches her zenith in career.
