Earlier today, Friday 20th May, 2022, the project team, Abiodun Essiet Initiative for Girls (AEIG), embarked on an advocacy visit to the principal, G.S.S Gwagwalada,
Mr. Victor Orifah, to solicit his support and that of the members of staff, for our upcoming sensitization seminar on sexual and gender-based violence, in the school.
One of the approaches we are implementing on the FCT OI project, to curb sexual and gender-based violence, in terms of preventive measures and reducing the culture of silence amongst the original inhabitants of FCT and people with disability, we will be conducting sensitization seminars in community schools with high concentration of original inhabitants, thereby raising actors and anti-GBV ambassadors. G.S.S Gwagwalada is one of the schools in the six area councils in FCT we will be sensitizing, as approved by the FCT Secondary Education Board.
The team had audience with the principal; vice principal, Mr. Anze Vincent A.; and Mrs. Achunwa Jude-Ann, incharge of special duties.
In his short remark, the principal commended the effort of the project team, and also highlighted some measures they have put in place in the school, to educate the students on the different forms of SGBV and the roles they can play, no matter how little, to fight against it. He also promised his maximum cooperation.
