MEDIA BRIEFING ON THE BASELINE STUDY REPORT ON SGBV IN FCT

Earlier today, Abiodun Essiet Initiative for Girls (AEIG), held a media briefing on the baseline study report on Sexual and Gender-based Violence in FCT.

National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Person, NAPTIP; The Nigerian Police Force, FCT Command; Social Development Secretariat, FCTA; and the Social Welfare Departments of all the six area councils in FCT were ably represented and other major stakeholders in the fight against SGBV.

Members of the public where also updated on our activities so far on the FCT OI project by our organization, while the stakeholders present, especially the government institutions, lamented on how challenging the fight against SGBV has become, and how they have been tackling some of those challenges through collaborative effort and public enlightenment.

The program officer, Resource Centre for Human Rights and Civic Education (CHRICED), Mr Armsfree Ajanaku, lauded our strides so far in the FCT OI project. He also said, though prosecution of offenders will serve as detterent, more effort should also be invested in prevention of SGBV.

The FCT OI project is funded by MacArthur Foundation through Resource Centre for Human Rights and Civic Education (CHRICED).
