Earlier today, the OI project team of Abiodun Essiet Initiative for Girls held an interface meeting between community members and traditional rulers in Yewuti community, Kwali Area Council. This is the fourth phase of the scorecard on community responses to SGBV currently being developed.
The meeting provided an ample opportunity for both the traditional rulers and representatives of various groups in the community, to present the consolidated score on their responses as a service provider, on issues of sexual and gender-based violence, and how those responses are perceived by them, the service users, respectively.
The participatory discussion gave room for both parties to give reasons for their scores and also recommendations for how to improve where there were low scores and suggestions about how to maintain the high scores. This culminated into a joint action plan in order of priority which issues should be dealt with to improve users experience.
Also present were representatives of Nigerian Police Force, social welfare unit, and the gender officer, Kwali Area Council.
